JACKSON, Miss. — A woman on death row is suing the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) over information about the drugs that would be used to take her life.
In her suit filed Monday, Michelle Byrom said MDOC has not followed public records laws and failed to provide her with adequate information about from where the agency is getting execution drugs and how they would be used. A MDOC spokesperson has not commented about the suit, saying its’ response will come in court.
Byrom was sentenced to death in 2000 for killing her husband, Edward Byrom, Sr. at their Tishomingo County home. Attorney General Jim Hood has asked the Mississippi Supreme Court to set her execution date for March 27
