JACKSON, Miss.- Bob Dearing was sworn in to the Mississippi Senate on Wednesday.
He took office after Republican Melanie Sojourner’s challenge to his election was rejected. Sojourner believe that the election was ruined due to misconduct at a polling place in Bude. She claims absentee ballots were mishandled in Adams County.
The Senate voted 47-3 to confirm Dearing’s victory in District 37.
Dearing previously served 32 years in the senate until he was defeated in 2011 by Sojourner. He is now returning to office after he was the winner of the 2015 general election.
