JACKSON, Miss — The Veterans Administration is looking into reports that vets wanting medical help from VA hospitals are having to wait needlessly long periods of time to even have test done to detect cancer
“Long wait times and a weak scheduling policy and process have been persistent problems for the VA,” said Debra Draper of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) during an interview with CNN. “Both the GAO and the VA’s (inspector general) have been reporting on these issues for more than a decade.”
While the CNN report confirms some vets have died waiting for care, it found that no one at the VA hospital in Jackson has gotten any worse because of delayed treatment.
