NEWTON, Miss. — There’s been a plane crash in Newton County and one person is dead, another hurt. Investigators say the single-engine plane apparently hit some power lines as it was landing earlier today.
The names of the victims have not been released yet, but state troopers say they are a pilot and his student. The dead man’s body is now in Jackson for an autopsy. The other man was taken to a Meridian hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.
