NEW ORLEANS, LA– BP claims it has uncovered fraud and conflicts of interests in the settlement program which has given billions of dollars to Gulf Coast businesses and residents to compensate them for the 2010 gulf oil spill.
They are now asking to put a halt to those settlement payments.
A deadline has been set August 26th for a for claims administrator Patrick Juneau to respond.
Monday, U.S. district judge Carl Barbier said he would not hold a hearing on BP’s request to halt settlement payments while former FBI director Louis Freeh investigates misconduct by a lawyer who worked on Juneau’s staff.
