MADISON COUNTY, Miss. – You are advised to stay away from a section of the Natchez Trace Parkway where a bicyclist was attacked and bitten by a pack of dogs.
It’s in Madison County near mile marker 113.5. The 64-year-old bicyclist was southbound when he said about 8 to 10 dogs came at him from both sides of the road Monday. He was bitten several times, but managed to get away.
While there have been no other reports of similar attacks in the area, until further notice, the National Park Service advises bicyclists, hikers and horseback riders on the Natchez Trace to use other sections of the National Scenic Trail.
Park officials and the Madison County Animal Control are working to find the dogs and identify their owner(s). If you have any information that could help, call The Natchez Trace Parkway at 1-800-300- PARK.
