JACKSON, MISS– The National Weather Service has warned that this week could bring dangerously high temperatures, with heat indices reaching the triple digits.
The Delta could see the highest temperatures Monday, with the heat index slated for 108.
“We’re looking at 101-105 for the rest of the area,” said Mike Edmundston with the National Weather Service office in Jackson.”
The dangerous heat could last all week, and Edmundston said there are keys times to avoid going outside.
“Tuesday through Friday, looking at the hours between 11am and 7pm,” said Edmundston. “If you’re going to be out, stay hydrated, drink lots of water.”
While the most dangerous temperatures are slated for Tuesday through Friday, Edmundston added that there does not seem to be relief in sight for the temperatures this weekend.
News Mississippi will continue to follow this heatwave.
