The MS Department of Education Office of Child Nutrition (OCN) coordinated its 2nd Junior Chef Competition in 2019. It is a project that invites Mississippi public school students, through the culinary arts programs, to create a recipe that could be served in the school lunch programs that is student friendly and follows USDA Nutrition Standards.
The Mississippi winner this year was Oak Grove High School and Culinary Arts Instructor, Debbie Miller, stopped by Good Things to talk with Rebecca Turner.
Listen and learn about the culinary arts program in Mississippi, how it helps students see the behind the scenes of the hospitality industry, and sets them up for success for nontraditional jobs after graduation.
