Crews work to restore power across Mississippi

Update: 

Over 30,000 Mississippians were left without power during yesterday’s storms, and crews are now working to restore power across the state. 

Now that the storm threat has ended, Entergy tweeted that crews are restoring outages.

Southern Pine Electric’s service area was also affected by the storms, and they are also beginning to restore power to their customers.

The Weather Channel stated that early reports show that at least 9 tornados touched down in Mississippi, resulting in two fatalities – one in Neshoba County and the other occured in Amite County.

As severe weather makes its way across the state, it’s leaving thousands of Mississippians without power. 

Entergy Mississippi’s outage map is currently showing that over 26,000 people are without power. 

Southern Pine Electric’s outage map is currently showing that nearly 10,000 of their customers are without power.

The threat of severe weather is expected to continue throughout the day and into the night, according to the National Weather Service. 

Tornado watches and warnings have been issued for large portions of the state, so make sure you are staying ‘weather aware’.
