Update: The courthouses in Biloxi and Gulfport were cleared by K9 units, and workers were allowed to return just before 11 a.m.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reporting more bomb threats after the State Supreme Court was subject to a threat on Thursday morning.
According to DPS, threats have been received at “various locations across the state.” Sources tell SuperTalk Mississippi News that county courthouses in both Biloxi and Gulfport had threats come in.
“The Mississippi Department of Public Safety has received notification of multiple bomb threats at various locations across the state,” a statement reads. “Precautionary measures are being taken at all locations and standard emergency procedures are being followed.”
DPS added that they are currently working with federal partners and bomb teams have been deployed at each location. They ask anyone with information regarding these threats to reach out to local Crime Stoppers, police, sheriff’s departments, or the FBI.
Lawmakers at the Mississippi Capitol were evacuated shortly before 9:30 a.m. after a threat was received by the State Supreme Court. Other buildings in and around downtown Jackson have also been evacuated, including the chancery and circuit courts.
