JACKSON, Miss.- The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency announced they will provide financial assistance to cotton farmers this year.
The Agency said they will provide about 60 percent more assistance to each farm than the 2014 cost-share program did, as long as farmers sign up for the aid.
Cotton farmers have from June 20 to August 5 to sign up. Visit the Farm Service Agency website or call their office to receive the payment.
The aid comes as a response to added pressure on these farmers and a decrease in cotton prices all over the world.
Mississippi is ranked as the number four on the list of states who produce the most cotton in America.
