Around 4 a.m. on Monday, the Corinth Fire Department responded to a fire at an office building that housed Scotty Little and Associates Auction Company.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, the 15,000 square foot building was engulfed in flames. The 5 crews and 16 firefighters worked on extinguishing the fire until the afternoon, but the building was completely lost. Training officer at the Corinth FD, Jerry Whirley, said that the wood trusses of the building allowed to fire to spread quickly and inflict more damage.
It is unclear what caused the fire, but the The State Fire Marshal is investigating. Whirley did say that they have been able to narrow down a point of origin for the fire, but the cause may be more difficult to determine due to the amount of destruction to the structure.
There were no reported injuries, and the building was empty at the time of the fire.
