What is a language we can all understand?
The language of food!
Lauren B. McElwain discovered that after hosting a cooking class for a few Japanese moms who had moved to town. Blue Springs, MS (on the outskirts of Tupelo), is home to a significant Toyota manufacturing plant and provides Lauren the opportunity to make friends from all over the world. Lauren has a natural love for travel and cooking, so it made sense to get her new friends in the kitchen and learn about their traditional cuisine.
That sparked the idea of “Cooking as a First Language” cooking classes where the people all live in Tupelo, but the recipes come from another country. Lauren shared more about the impact and inspiration for the cooking classes with Rebecca Turner on Good Things.
