Ole Miss police confirm that a confederate statue on the campus of the university was hit by a truck on Saturday night.
The accident happened on Rebel Drive and police believe alcohol was involved. They suspect the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were taken to Baptist for treatment. The vehicle crashed into a Confederate Monument, however there is no indication that the crash was intentional.
The full extent of damage has yet to be determined.
Update on the accident: there is some physical damage to the Confederate statue. Subjects are at Baptist being evaluated.
