JACKSON, Miss. – U.S. Senator Thad Cochran has defeated Tea Party challenger Chris McDaniel in Tuesday’s Mississippi GOP Senate runoff election.
With 99% of the votes counted, Cochran held a 6,700 vote lead over Cochran, with only 1300 votes separating them. “This is your victory,” declared Cochran during a Tuesday night victory speech at the Mississippi Children’s Museum.
