Coca-Cola broke ground on a $15 million facility in McComb on Thursday.
Once construction is complete, the new sales and distribution center will take over the current one that has been in operation since 1949. Along with the project will come 60 new jobs as officials see the investment as a nod to the soft drink company’s long-term success in the area.
“We are excited to build a new facility in McComb as it will optimize our distribution network and better serve our associates and our customers for years to come,” Coca-Cole UNITED West Region Vice President Scott McCallister said, per a release. “This decision is part of our company’s strategic plan to invest in our expanded footprint – which has more than tripled since 2014 – to benefit our associates, as well as our customers and our communities.”
The new facility will sit on 12 acres off Interstate 55 and will include a sales and distribution center, warehouse, and office space. It will serve as a regional hub for distributing Coca-Cola products throughout south Mississippi and parts of Louisiana.
Coca-Cola has an extensive history in McComb that dates back to 1907. Once the new facility is complete, the current facility off West Presley Boulevard will be put up for sale.
