A Biloxi man will spend nearly a decade in prison on child porn charges.
45-year-old Christopher Bryan Smith was sentenced to serve 9 years in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for possession of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst and Special Agent in Charge Jere T. Miles.
Smith was arrested back in July 2017 after an investigation conducted by Homeland Security, the Wiggins Police Department, and the Gulf Coast Cyber Crime Task Force traced an IP address belonging to Smith and his use of a computer file sharing program.
A federal search warrant was executed in July 2017 at Smith’s Biloxi home. Smith’s electronic devices were seized and forensic examinations were conducted. The investigation revealed that Smith knowingly possessed “visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, to include visual depictions of a minor who had not attained 12 years of age.”
Smith was also ordered to pay restitution to a known victim in the amount of $5,000, a fine in the amount of $5,000, and an additional assessment of $5,000 under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015.
