A Clinton native has etched himself into the record books while earning a national title over the weekend.
During the Primetime session at USA Powerlifting’s Raw Nationals held Friday night, Austin Perkins gave “one of the best powerlifting performances of all time,” according to judges and spectators.
Perkins, who weighs 165 pounds, lifted a total of 851 kilograms (1,876.13 pounds) at the competition, shattered the world record for his weight class, the 75-kilogram class, and even broke the record in the 82.5-kilogram weight class.
The Clinton powerlifter didn’t stop there. During the competition, Perkins also set a record for the highest DOTS of any drug-tested male at 614.
