A Cleveland Central High School student has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a fellow pupil.
Cleveland Police Chief Dudley Tribble reports that the incident occurred on Tuesday just after 8 a.m. Authorities were notified of a disturbance at the school’s campus. Once law enforcement arrived at the scene, a student was promptly detained.
The juvenile was identified as 18-year-old Jamarion Dumas. After an investigation was conducted, the teen was handcuffed and charged with aggravated assault for stabbing one of his peers. The stabbing victim was taken to a local hospital and later released.
Dumas was booked at the Cleveland Police Department and was given a $100,000 bond.
“It’s crucial to emphasize that this was an isolated incident involving those specific students, and no other students were involved,” Cleveland School District Superintendent Lisa Bramuchi said. “Please rest assured that we take student safety extremely seriously and are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for everyone at CCHS. Student misconduct will not be tolerated at any of our school campuses.”
The Bolivar County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case against Dumas.
