JACKSON, Miss.- Cinco De Mayo is this Monday and you may be looking for somewhere to celebrate.
Saturday Jackson will be hosting their 2014 Cinco de Mayo Festival on State Sreet and Capitol Street from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The festival celebrates the cultural diversity throughout the state and will have fun activities the entire family can enjoy.
There will be a prayer at noon and then you can enjoy Mariachi music, watch the Charro Mexican Rodeo cowboys and folkloric dancers. There will even be a Chihuahua dog contest.
A variety of Mexican food will be at the festival to eat along with lots of other ethnic foods.
Children can enjoy crafts, carnival rides, space jumps, face painting, pony rides, piñatas, and a children’s arts and crafts area with traditional Mexican crafts.
There will be a concert including music ranging from Mexican to Country, Blues, Rock, Zydeco and other festival activities including the presentation of this year’s “La Reina (the queen) de Cinco de Mayo” of Mississippi.
