JACKSON, Miss.–Getting people from all parts of the state to come to the capitol and oppose Common Core was the goal of a group of educators and parents, and apparently they are expecting a good showing.

The anti-Common Core rally will be at 2:30 p.m., but state lawmakers can expect to see members of the group as early as 10. The group has reserved a room at the capitol to meet with legislators to encourage them to introduce and pass legislation that would strike Common Core from Mississippi’s schools.

The group also plans a walk around the capitol and will likely have signs.

Gov. Bryant and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves have both recently said they would like to see Common Core standards abolished. Whether the state legislature will take it up depends on bills being introduced in the next few weeks.
