JACKSON, Miss.- After an 8-month-old little girl died as a result of being left in a hot car in Grenada, her father was charged with manslaughter.
Now the girl’s mother has spoken out and asked the courts to dismiss the charges against the father, Joshua Blunt, 25 according to local media.
Shanice Caradine, mother to Shania Rihanna Caradine said this was all a tragic accident. She filed an affidavit Tuesday in Grenada County Circuit Court to request that the manslaughter charges against the girls father be dropped.
Blunt is expected to appear in court on August 18 in Grenada. The city prosecutor said he would drop the charge to a misdemeanor when he was arrested for second-degree murder, but maintained the manslaughter charge.
Blunt is represented by Carlos Moore, who says he will not take a plea bargain.
