A Chickasaw County couple is expected to face significant jail time for the death of an infant.
The Houston Police Department reports that Marquis Devon Fountain and Osheuna Lashay Reese are charged with the death of their child.
On Monday, November 13, officers were dispatched to a domestic violence in progress. During the felony investigation, a three-month-old infant was found in dire need of medical attention.
The infant was transported by ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center, then immediately taken to Le Bonheur Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
The baby, identified as Adam Wyatt Fountain, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, November 19. He was reported to have had two ribs broken, bruised arms and legs, bleeding and swelling in his brain, and a spinal injury
Marquis Fountain, the father, is charged with aggravated domestic violence, felonious child abuse, and capital murder. The mother, Reese, faces felonious child abuse and capital murder charges.
