JACKSON, Miss. Mississippi is the third worst state in the nation for working mothers according to WalletHub’s newly released 2015 Best and Worst States for Mom’s report.
The researchers’ analysis of all the states looked at twelve key metrics including access to and quality of child care, gender pay gap, the length of a woman’s work day and the ratio of men to women.
The report found that while women comprise roughly half of the U.S. labor force, they still earn about three quarters of what men earn and have far less upward mobility. The two states below Mississippi in the report were South Carolina (50) and Louisiana (51). Vermont, Minnesota and Wisconsin were ranked the top three states.
