The headlining performance for the second annual Mississippi Makers Fest has been announced as the music, food, and arts festival is expected to kick off in a few months.
According to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH), Holly Springs native Cedric Burnside will headline the all-day festival. Burnside, an electric blues musician, was named a Grammy Award winner in 2022 for his album I Be Trying.
Other performances during the festival are set to include Bass Drum of Death, Track45, Kudzu Kings, and 5th Child. Applications for art and food vendors are now open, with MDAH Director Katie Blount stating that the event is aiming to have even more to offer attendees this year.
“Our goal was to create an event that celebrated makers of all kinds in Mississippi,” Blount said. “We look forward to visitors experiencing the mouthwatering delights that Mississippi food vendors bring to the table and the variety of artisans representing their crafts from across Mississippi.”
The event will be free to the public at the Two Mississippi Museums in downtown Jackson on Saturday, May 13.
