BROOKHAVEN, MISS– A cat has been beaten to death at the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League, according to the organization.

Earlier today, we had someone go into the BARL cat room and beat one of our cats. The cat caregiver was out of the room at the time, assisting with the dogs outside. They saw the man coming out of the room and when they went in there was blood splattered around the room and a plastic stick was in pieces. The cat is at the vet right now. The person is a white male, and was driving a black four-door truck, pulling a black/silvery boat. He may have cat scratches and/or bites. Please call Julie at 601-757-1057 if you have any info. The organization reported shortly thereafter that the cat had died.
