JACKSON, Miss. – Statewide revenue from gambling is up 2.5 percent when compared to this time last year.
According the Mississippi Gaming Commission, however, the state is still fighting an up-hill battle when compared to the past. Revenue in 2007 was close to $3 billion whereas last years revenue only totaled around $2.1 billion.
The MGC believes that high gas prices mixed with the recession led to years of revenue depreciation.
Casinos said to be making the most money are those on the coast.
