A traveling carnival located at the Outlets of Mississippi in Pearl has canceled a week-long schedule of events after gunshots were fired Saturday night.
According to city officials, several fights occurred between attendees at the carnival before one individual fired shots into the air.
Pearl Public Information Officer Greg Flynn released that the incident was not a shootout. No injuries have been reported at this time.
“This will not be tolerated in our city,” Mayor Jake Windham said. “It is truly a shame that families cannot enjoy themselves because of ridiculous behavior.”
Windham requested that the Outlets significantly reduce the carnival’s hours or cancel the event entirely shortly after the incident.
The carnival’s staff has since moved to the next scheduled location in response to the shooting.
