COPIAH COUNTY, Miss.–It was a wreck where one car hit the other from behind Tuesday. The car in from then hit flagman Garvin Barnes, 39, who died at the scene in a work zone on Hwy. 51 near Crystal Springs.
You’ve probably heard radio ads during broadcasts of News Mississippi. MDOT is always reminding you to slow down and watch for flagmen in work zones. Tuesday’s wreck was the reason.
Barnes worked for an asphalt company, Dickerson and Barnes. He was doing his job correctly, according to MDOT, who looked the accident scene over to make sure the contractor was in compliance.
The Miss. Highway PAtrol accident reconstruction team began work Tuesday afternoon. So far, no charges have been filed.
