A man looking to buy a car was robbed in a fast food parking lot in the capital city Monday night.

Jackson police officers were dispatched to the McDonald’s off Woodrow Wilson Avenue after reports of a robbery.

An unidentified man was apparently in the fast food joint’s parking lot under the impression that he would be meeting someone he met on Facebook Marketplace to buy their car. Instead, he was robbed by a trio of unidentified Black men, JPD officials say.

“Consumers should be cautious when making purchases through online sites and meetups, and to use precaution and discretion when planning meetups for exchanges of goods and money,” JPD Captain Jacquelyn Thomas said.

No customers were injured during the incident. There have also yet to be any arrests made in the investigation.
