Car dealership owner charged with fraud

Yesterday Hattiesburg Police officers arrested 36 year-old Allen Jenkins of Hattiesburg for fraudulent checks in regards to his business.

He is accused of selling vehicles for private sellers and agreeing to take their vehicle on a 30-day consignment. According to victims, he would either sell the vehicle for cash or finance the vehicles through his dealership, A&J Auto Sales, located at 502 Broadway Drive.

When the vehicle was sold, victims advised a check would be written to them, and it would come back as insufficient funds.

Currently, seven victims that have come forward with accusations that Jenkins sold their vehicles and wrote them bad checks in return.

Jenkins has been charged with one count of bad check, which is a felony, for fraudulently delivering insufficient instruments and is currently booked in the Forrest County Jail.
