CANTON, Miss.–If you remember the May elections and the craziness that happened in Canton over the city-wide races, one of the people that was arrested and charged with causing a big disturbance was found guilty Monday. But, Kimberly Readus will not go to jail.
She got a suspended sentence and will have to pay a fine of about a thousand dollars, and a year probation.
Some of Readus’ antics were caught on video, including the cuffs being slapped on her.
News Mississippi affiliate WMGO first reported the May 21 arrest. It happened when Readus, responsible for observing the votes and ballot boxes, may have left with some unsealed boxes. That upset an elderly woman who was watching Readus.
Readus called her a “baboon’s ass”, then hollared at police.
“As a reporter, we’ve witnessed her antics in this election and past one, said reporter Jerry Lousteau. “Many are saying it’s high time she went down.”
WLBT reported Readus may be the subject of a grand jury investigation into the goings on in the May elections in that city.
