Tomorrow night, incumbent Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R) and Mike Espy (D) will take the stage for a debate.
During the debate, the candidates will answer questions regarding the issues that are important to Mississippi, and in the process, they’ll try to pick up undecided voters.
Both Hyde-Smith and Espy received around 40% of the vote on November 6th to qualify for next week’s runoff. With Chris McDaniel (R) and Tobey Bartee (D) receiving votes on the 6th, their supporters will now help decide the runoff. McDaniel got nearly 17% of the vote and Bartee’s percentage was slim at 1.4%.
If Espy hopes to win the seat, he’ll have to sway some of McDaniel’s supporters. Hyde-Smith will need his supporters to follow his call to unite the party. Below you’ll find the county-by-county breakdown of the vote on the 6th, courtesy of the New York Times.
