Calhoun county supervisor pleads guilty to bribery charges

ABERDEEN, Miss.- Earnest M. Fox of Bruce, a Calhoun County supervisor, has plead guilty to soliciting bribes. This is a federal charge.

Fox’s original hearing was set for Monday but was postponed until Nov. 7. The Aberdeen Federal Court System confirmed he was charged with two counts of interfering with commerce by extortion. He is currently out on a $5,000 bail.

If convicted, Fox could face up to 40 years in prison and fines totaling close to $500,000. However, lawyer Kevin Horan said that negotiations are going on between Fox and prosecutors for a special sentencing in exchange for a guilty plea.

The indictment states that Fox received bribes from a log hauler twice in 2015.
