C Spire announces Kenny Chesney for 2017 concert

MADISON, Miss.- C Spire has announced that Kenny Chesney will be headlining the May 20, 2017 “Day of Country” concert event. This will be the fourth large concert they have hosted in Madison County. 

Tickets for the concert went on sale at 2 p.m. Friday Nov. 4 through Ticketmaster or cspire.com/concert. Ticket prices vary $80 for general admission, $200 for a special sand bar-themed complimentary food and four beverage coupons and $150 for access to an exclusive area in front.

There will be a limited number of VIP passes for $250 a piece. They are first come first serve. Gates for the concert will open at noon the day of and parking will be limited.

In past years like 2013 C Spire brought Darius Rucker, 2015 brought Miranda Lambert, and last year Florida Georgia Line made an appearance to a crowd of over 10,000.

Chesney will be honored next month with two of the top awards in country music from Broadcast Music (President’s Award), and CMA (Pinnacle Award) for his singing, songwriting, record sales and international touring success. He just released his 11th album, “Cosmic Hallelujah,” today, which features a hit duet “Setting the World on Fire” with Pink.

Dubbed “Day of Country,” the live outdoor music event sponsored by C Spire and presented by Baptist FastPass also will feature performances by contemporary country music artists Thomas Rhett, Jake Owen, Jana Kramer and Russell Dickerson.

some of the best new country music artists to our state, which has a long, rich tradition for being known as the birthplace
of America’s music,” said Jim Richmond, vice president of Corporate Communications for C Spire.
Chesney is from Knoxville, Tennessee and is considered one of music’s top touring artists and has won numerous Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards for his over 23-year singing career.
City and company officials said they are looking forward to bringing in more top-caliber entertainment to Mississippi.

The concerts have already shown significant economic impact from the last three years.
