Burglary scheme involving a U-Haul has two Jackson men facing charges

JACKSON, Miss.- Two men are facing charges after being connected to a burglary scheme involving a rented U-Haul in Hinds County.

Police have arrested and charged 33-year-old Maurice Demond Taylor, and 25-year-old Kenneth Ray Winters, with Burglary and being felons in possession of a firearm.

The two are accused of driving a U-Haul into neighborhoods and parking in residents’ driveways. They would knock on the door asking for gas money and if no one was home they would break in and take whatever they could find.

Police searched a home in Jackson that the men were reportedly storing their goods and found four flat screen TV’s, a crossbow, two handguns, an AK-47 assault rifle, a double barreled .22 rifle, two Sony DVD players, a laptop, an XBox, a PlayStation, a gas mask, SKS and AD-47 ammunition, a military hunting knife, and a stand-up air compressor.

Police are asking for any information pertaining to the burglaries as they continue to investigate.
