The Mississippi State women have earned a #1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
After regular season and SEC Tournament titles, the Bulldogs have been named a #1 seed for the second straight season. The other #1 seeds in this year’s tournament include Baylor, Notre Dame and Louisville.
The Bulldogs will host the first and second rounds in Starkville on Friday and Sunday. The Bulldogs will begin their quest for a national title on Friday night against the 16th seeded Southern University Jaguars at 8:30 on their home floor at Humphrey Coliseum.
If the Bulldogs are able to move past the Jaguars, they’ll play the winner of the 8/9 matchup between South Dakota and Clemson on Sunday. The winner of the second-round game will advance to the Portland regional on March 29 and April 1.
After the bracket was revealed, Schaefer and a few players met the media to discuss what it means to them to be a #1 seed with a chance to avenge last year’s title game loss to Notre Dame.
