JACKSON, MISS– Another man has been added to the list of people taking heat for the kickback and bribery scheme that led former Mississippi Department of Corrections Christopher Epps in hot water.
Epps pleaded guilty counts of those charges in February.
Robert Simmons is now charged with bribing Epps. Prosecutors say he kicked back some of his consulting fees to Epps in 2012. Simmons is said to have bribed another man in the case; an unnamed Harrison County supervisor, for a medical contract for the Harrison county jail.
Former supervisor William Martin took his own life just hours before he was supposed to face the judge.
