HATTIESBURG, MISSISSIPPI– Police have brought in Curtis and Marvin Banks as well as Joanie Calloway in connection to the murder of two Hattiesburg Police officers, reports WDAM.
Two officers have been killed at a routine traffic stop in downtown Hattiesburg, confirms the Forrest County Coroner.
The Banks brothers and Calloway were all in the car that the officers stopped. The officers were shot then the police car was stolent and dumped near the Train Depot in Hattiesburg.
Officers Benjamin J. Deen, 34, and Liquori Tate, 25, were pronounced dead at Forrest General Hospital.
Multiple agencies came to the crime scene for the investigation in order to free up the Hattiesburg Police Department for the manhunt.
The cops caught up with Marvin Banks at North Gate Inn at around 1am, and Curtis Banks was picked up at an apartment complex around 3am. Both of the Banks Brothers have a history with the police. Joanie Calloway was also taken into custody.
Marvin Banks and Joanie Calloway are charged with two counts of murder, and Curtis is charged with accessory.
Cornelius Clark, 28, was arrested Sunday and charged with obstruction of justice.
A candlelight vigil was held Sunday night at a Hattiesburg Police substation, where the community gathered to pray for the officers’ families.
