GREENVILLE, Miss.–The Mississippi Delta is served by two TV stations, WABG TV6 and WXVT TV 15. Both news departments are now being filmed and featured on a reality show called “Breaking Greenville”, coming to TruTV in December.
The show follows the antics and daily work of reporters, anchors and the news directors at each station.
It would be fair to say, after watching the trailer, that the series is definitely more comedy than anything else. The Delta stations are small-market, and the show seems to feature antics and attitudes behind the scenes rather than the crew trying to get the stories that affect people in the Delta.
Yahoo’s article on the series puts it like this: Breaking Greenville is a real documentary about actual local news reporters doing things that would probably make Edward R. Morrow scream into the nearest throw pillow.
While the show presents the two stations as competitors, in reality they are owned by the same company and even share a common website, yourdeltanews.com.
The show follows morning anchor Lucy Biggers as she comes to WABG from Connecticut. Once she gets to the station, she meets News Director Pam Chapman, Meteorologist Christopher Mathis and the rest of the crew.
The exact date the show will premiere is unclear.
