RIO DE JANIERO, BRAZIL– Southern Miss alum and Sandhill native Tori Bowie won the bronze medal for the women’s 2oom at Olympic Stadium Wednesday.
Bowie’s time was 22.15. She was 0.37 behind Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson, who won gold ay 21.78. Netherland’s Dafne Schippers won silver at 21.88.
This is the fourth straight Olympic Games where a U.S. woman has medaled in the 200 meters.
Bowie fell just short of Thompson (Team Jamaica) Saturday night in the 100m finals at 10.83s, securing a silver medal. Thompson’s time was 10.71s.
Bowie won her 100m semifinal heat at 10.9s.
