Yesterday Pearl High School and Hinds Community College were placed on a soft lockdown after Pearl Police and United States Border Patrol were looking for two suspects.
Border Patrol pulled over a vehicle on I-20 east and took one suspected illegal immigrant into custody. Two hispanic males that were also in the vehicle escaped and ran into the woods heading in opposite directions. The men are also suspected illegal immigrants.
After Pearl police spoke with Border Patrol and searched the vehicle, the lockdown was lifted and the men were not deemed to be a threat to the schools. Lt. Brian McGairty with the Pearl Police Department said no weapons were found in the vehicle.
