Jackson residents can go back to using water as normal.
JXN Water issued a release Saturday morning, announcing that a systemwide boil water advisory has been lifted. The advisory was put into effect after Thursday night’s storms knocked out power at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant in Ridgeland.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as our dedicated staff worked around the clock during the aftermath of severe storms in Jackson to sample and address plant needs,” JXN Water interim third-party manager Ted Henifin said. “The fast recovery is a testament to the work that’s been done over the last year by JXN Water, our contractors, and all our engineers. We’re applying what we learned about our system to future weather events and tests of resiliency.”
Henifin also acknowledged lab staff at the Mississippi State Department of Health for their efforts in achieving a timely lift for the service area. He said JXN Water will now work with Entergy to deliver full generation capacity backup power to the plant for future instances of severe weather.
