An investigation is underway after a body was found on the shoreline of Cat Island.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WLOX that the deceased man was spotted Thursday. Upon officials arriving at the scene, the victim was identified as Willie Hall, 47, of Georgia.
As of now, authorities have not found a boat, so it’s unclear how Hall got to the island. Whether he was in the ocean elsewhere or was dropped off on the island is unknown, but an autopsy is being performed at the State Crime Lab.
When Hall was found, he was wearing long gray pants, boots, a white shirt, and a jean jacket.
Cat Island is about 10 miles off the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
