Jackson Police are investigating a fatal vehicle accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Interstate 55 near Downtown Jackson.
The body of a male was discovered between the north and southbound lanes by a state road maintenance worker, just after 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
The condition of the victim suggested that he had been there for more than a day, and the injuries to the body appeared to be consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
The identity of the victim is currently unknown and investigators are awaiting the result of an autopsy to determine the cause and time of death.
