The body of a missing Vancleave man has been found in a local lake.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the body of 32-year-old Matthew Sloan was recovered on Monday morning inside his vehicle, which was pulled from Parkers Lake.
Sheriff Mike Ezell stated that it appears that Sloan’s Jeep Cherokee hit the guardrail of the bridge over the lake, sending the car into the water.
The sheriff department’s marine unit was able to use sonar from a nearby boat to locate the car underwater. Divers from Gautier Police Department were then able to find Sloan’s body inside of the car.
The sheriff says Sloan was reported missing on Saturday night after he left home to go to the store, and he never returned.
