JACKSON, Miss.–Central District Public Service Commissioner Lynn Posey presented a $5,000 donation to Batson Children’s Hospital on Thursday on behalf of the Mississippi Alabama Telecommunications Golf Tournament.
“It is a pleasure to give to an organization that does so much to help children,” said Posey. “We hope this donation will go far in helping the hospital meet their needs.”
The donation was put together by participation in a golf tournament held at Patrick Farms in Brandon, MS earlier this year. Around 85 players competed as a four-person scramble on the 18-hole course.
“This is about the fifth year that we have been doing this,” Posey said.
Blaire E. Batson hospital is currently in the process of building a new Children’s Heart Center according to Ruth Thomas who is the Children’s Miracle Network Coordinator and the money will go to help its construction.
“The new children’s hospital will now allow for Mississippi patients to be treated in Mississippi instead of going out of state boarders for help,” said Thomas.
