Cannon fire and skirmishes will be heard at Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library this weekend during the 2017 fall muster.
Visitors will be able to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the Civil War-era Saturday and Sunday when the west Biloxi site hosts the 31st annual Fall Muster.
The two-day event, runs Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will include various presentations, campground and battle re-enactments, tours of the Jefferson Davis home and Presidential Library and cemetery. Visitors will also be able to see the site of the Tomb of the Unknown Confederate Soldier.
“We really appreciate our living history participants,” said Thomas Payne Executive Director of the Beauvoir Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library. “They not only do this with their time, which is extremely valuable, but they spend a lot of money in preparation and study. We don’t call them actors, we call them living history. They are historians who come out and play the part so that others can know and receive the history.”
