BILOXI, Miss.- The new Biloxi baseball stadium is in need of more money to open on time. The city will either have to pay a $10,000 fine for every home game that can’t be played in the new Shuckers’ stadium or chip in $1 million to get it ready for opening day on April 21.
The Sun Herald reports, city attorney Gina Tompkins said Tuesday the city doesn’t have $1 million to contribute.
Tompkins said after meeting with Yates Construction, which is building the stadium, even if the city manages to come up with the money, the stadium still won’t be completely done in time.
City officials say they need to have an answer by next week whether they will have the extra money to contribute to the stadium or not.
