Good news for bargain hunters — Big Lots, the popular discount retail chain — will reopen two Mississippi stores this week.
Variety Wholesalers, which acquired 219 Big Lots locations after the retailer went through the bankruptcy process, announced that nine of the stores will be opened across six states on Thursday as part of phase one of a grand reopening. Two of these outlets are in the Magnolia State. The Pearl (5778 Highway 80 East) and Tupelo (2605 West Main Street) locations will open their doors to customers.

Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia will also welcome Big Lots back this week.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Big Lots! brand back to life by offering more deals than ever, lots of famous brands and a new apparel department for the entire family,” Lisa Seigies, president and CEO of Variety Wholesalers, said.
“We’re opening stores quickly so we can serve the community. We know the stores won’t be perfect to start, but each week, we’ll add more new products as we build towards the grand opening celebration in the fall. Every time a customer visits Big Lots we want them to find something new and exciting!”
Variety Wholesalers will reopen the remaining acquired locations in subsequent waves, with approximately 55 stores in the next phase on May 1. The remaining stores will open through early June and lead up to a grand opening celebration that will take place across all stores this fall.
